Bigger, better, fresher: Marks & Spencer is currently renewing its food halls with this goal in mind. The lighting concept for this comes from Oktalite. The target: a shopping experience and a lively atmosphere like in a producer's market. Our customized lighting solution is based on the E-LINE NEXT LED trunking system with ConVision optics. With its black finish, it blends inconspicuously into the ceiling - so the focus is always on the merchandise on offer.

New look, new level
Marks & Spencer is one of the UK's leading retail chains, with over a thousand locations. Its flagship stores are the food halls. They are currently getting a fresh new look: more Mediterranean market hall than traditional supermarket.
In April 2022, Marks & Spencer opened one of the first stores with the new design concept in Stevenage near London.
The low stray light lenses and the precisely calculated shielding provided by the limiters result in comfortable glare control. The effect: the light sources remain hidden as long as the customer is not directly under the luminaire. Double asymmetrical light distributions uniformly illuminate the vertical shelf surfaces.
Instead of uniform, inefficient supermarket lighting of the old kind, the lighting design relies on a differentiated, energy-saving concept. The backbone is the E-LINE NEXT LED truncking system, designed specifically for the project as a black profile with ConVision optics.
Where necessary, B.VEO spotlights and GRADO wallwashers are integrated into the structure at Marks & Spencer in this way. This enables individual, atmospheric lighting of different zones and merchandise groups while maintaining a calm ceiling appearance.
Differentiated zones guide the customer
Central advantage of the E-LINE NEXT LED system for such zoned planning: Its modularity. Luminaires can be integrated at any desired position - and repositioned just as flexibly and with little effort if required.
