Hamburg's St. Georg district is a neighbourhood on the upswing. Located behind the main station, this district is shedding its down-market image and morphing into a trendy neighbourhood with affluent residents. A perfect location for a supermarket like EDEKA Niemerszein. Since March 2013, this market has been offering a sophisticated assortment of fresh foods in 2,000 brightly-lit square meters.
The store design by Prof. Moths Architekten and shopfitting by Schweitzer Project visually express concepts like sustainability and regional production. The lighting concept, which was also designed and implemented by these two firms, emphasises variety. Oktalite supplied a wide range of luminaires for the assortment-dependent illumination of the departments. The result is a natural expression of the merchandise so that it looks just as fresh as it is.
